The World House by Guy Adams

I’ve been flicking through the Science Fiction in Amazon’s Kindle Summer Sale. With many books reduced to 99p, it had to be worth a look.

Fortunately, even at that price, I had the sense to read samples first, and a lot of stuff got rejected before the end of the first chapter.

However, it did lead me to this little gem, which was published last year. Reminding in me in many ways of Clive Barker (a box that transports people to a strange and very dangerous place?), I nevertheless found it a complete page-turner. To the point that on finishing it, I paid the full Kindle price for the sequel. Which is, of course, what special offers are all about.

The World House by Guy Adams
There is a box. Inside that box is a door. And beyond that door is a whole world.
In some rooms, forests grow. In others, animals and objects come to life. Elsewhere, secrets and treasures wait for the brave and foolhardy.
And at the very top of the house, a prisoner sits behind a locked door waiting for a key to turn. The day that happens, the world will end…

Incidently, the sequel – The World House: Restoration – was also very good, and an excellent read.

My only problem is, having read two Guy Adams books, is that Amazon is trying to get me to read his Torchwood novels, which is not my cup of tea at all.
