I so hate being ill

Coming to the end of my antibiotics, and although I am sure I am better than I was (I am not shivering and sleeping all the time), I still haven’t got rid of the congestion on my chest.

What is worse, I am actually supposed to be “on holiday” this week – nothing actually booked for most of the week, but the idea was going to be that I got some jobs done in the garden and around the house, and if the weather was good, perhaps go out for a day. Instead I have done zip, except sit and read and watch more “24”. I can’t even do any music, as I can’t sing with my chest like this.

I did have two things planned for the end of this week. On Saturday, I was going to host this month’s Posh Games Saturday session, with a BBQ. I have postponed that to the following week, by which time I hope to be better. However, one thing I cannot change is Friday, for when I have a ticket for the Gadget Show Live. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, so if I am not well enough to go (in 2.5 days time) that’s 20 quid down the drain.

Did I mention… I so hate being ill.

*sigh* BTDT, all too frodding often. And don’t worry, things do carry on improving after the antibiotics have stopped.

Although I finished my antibiotics for the latest round of the Cough O’Doom LAST TUESDAY. I’m still coughing. Not as much, though, thank goodness. And I can sing, although the lungs don’t want to hold long notes.

Have just returned from seeing the doctor again. He thinks that the infection has gone, and what I am suffering from now is my asthma, triggered by the infection. So now I have a 10 day course of steroids to take, which will hopefully get me back on track.

I took a trip over to Oakham yesterday, to pop into the office, and also do some shopping. Although I was tired by the time I got back home, I was fine while I was in the car, so I think I am going to give the Gadget Show Live a try tomorrow.

Sounds good! I take the antibiotics *and* steroids (prednisolone), both for a week, when I get the asthma ‘exacerbations’ (aka Cough O’Doom, which is always accompanied by extreme shortness of breath). The steroids clobber the asthma, and the antibiotics get rid of the lung infection. Here’s hoping the steroids work as well for you.
