Definitely Unwell

Over the last month, I’ve dipped in and out of being unwell – nothing alarming, merely coughs and sniffles, and a problem of being tired during the day, but unable to sleep properly at night, mainly due to said sniffles affecting my use of CPAP.

As a result, I’ve done bugger all housework over the last couple of weeks, I have a huge pile of t-shirts and underwear waiting to be ironed or put away, and I’ve missed out on a couple of things I intended to do this month, such as gaming and folk events.

Alas, having thought I had licked it, it’s hit me with a vengeance, and I am definitely unwell – currently curled up on my sofa, under a duvet; with no voice to speak of, and flu-like symptoms.

This means I am almost certainly going to miss the filk convention this weekend, which is sad, but not the end of the world, all things considered. I’m not programmed to be in anything, so I won’t be letting anyone down, and I think if I did go, I really wouldn’t be up to enjoying it that much. For that reason, and the possibility of infecting others (convention hotels are so good for sharing!), I think I am best off tucked up at home, with a ready supply of tissues, hot drinks and DVDs.

Urgh, no, not good! Keep warm and hydrated, and get well soon. (I’ve just fought off another attack of bronchitis/Cough O’Doom in time for the con.)

‘Tis a pity, but I think you are wise to do it both from the possibility of spreading infection and also I suspect that you will get well faster if you stay in an accustomed place (going even a few miles can cause infections — or rather weakened responses to them — just because of the change in environment).

“pile of t-shirts and underwear waiting to be ironed”

What a strange concept *g*. Piles of them to be put away (or conversely to be washed) I can understand, but ironing them? I iron cotton shirts, and occasionally cotton sheets and pillowcases (if I get them before they are fully dry the latter dry smoothly), but have never seen the point of ironing underwear.

Get well soon. We’ll miss you.

With editing like that, you deserve a career in journalism!

What I said was “a huge pile of t-shirts and underwear waiting to be ironed or put away”. i.e. “best” t-shirts to be ironed, and “day-to-day” t-shirts, and underwear, to be put away.

I’m sorry you won’t be there; you’ll be missed. 🙁
I hope you feel better quickly.

A good decision made on my part, I think. Have spent most of the weekend in bed, apart from a short and shaky trip to the local Tescos to get some essentials.

Am up now, still not brilliant, but I’m going to make myself some lunch and collapse with a good DVD.

Hope the con has gone well.
