Chocolate does not belong in the fridge…

Especially if it is a chunky bar, such as Toblerone or Yorkie.

I got given a large bar of Toblerone a few weeks back, as a thank you. As I have been pretty good recently, with regard to chocolate and biscuits, it remained unopened for some time, and realising it might melt, I put it in the fridge.

While working on Monday, I made a cup of tea, and on opening the fridge for the milk, I saw the chocolate bar sitting there. I thought “one piece will do no harm”.

Which is how I ended up, first thing Tuesday morning, having two broken teeth extracted at the dentist. My teeth were no match for cold-hardened chocolate!

To be fair, one was already partly broken – a tooth that was mostly filling, the side broke away a good few months back. The plan had been to get it fitted with a post and crown, but I hadn’t gotten around to it. The tooth immediately behind it appeared to have simply split in half – again, it had been filled, and was obviously weaker than I realised.

Anyway, the good news is that they are molars, and not incisors or canines – thus although you can see the gap if I smile wide enough, it is not completely in your face (or my face, for that matter). I now have to wait for a minimum of 8 weeks for the gums to heal, and then we can look into having a bridge made.

Probably the most expensive bit of chocolate I have ever eaten.

    Ah. [WINCE]

Try switching to Galaxy! =:o} And the trick is not to separate it with your teeth, but by hand (they’ve sensibly change the moudling to make this easier these days – no more whacking it against the edge of the open fridge compartment needed to break it up!) and then place the small slab of chilled chocolate on your tongue, and let it slowly melt. Unbeatable. =:o>
