New Table

My new table arrived in the week, and has spent the last few days lying on the floor. I did the necessary assembly – attaching the legs with bolts – but being solid oak it was just too big for me to turn over by myself.

Today I had 3 boardgamers visit, so that was a job easily done, and we then christened the table. I think it looks fantastic.

And here it is with the game Britannia all set out (for St. George’s Day)

As mentioned elsewhere, I picked this table up on eBay, cheap, as ex-display and marked. I figured a table in use will soon get marked anyway, so figured it worth the £200 I saved. When we examined it, we found the mark – at one end, an edging plank is slightly askew, and the small gap has been filled. It actually doesn’t look terrible, but it is a little rough to the touch. I reckon this can be improved upon with a gentle touch, but I am not doing anything until I have shown it to someone in the know. Even with the defect, it is still a bargain, expecially as the table will be covered for much of the time.
