The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress

Words & Music: Chris Malme
Inspired by "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" by Robert A. Heinlein

See the Earth high above the mountains,
There in the sky, always on our mind.
Sleep little child, too young to be fearful
The moon is a harsh mistress, as you will soon find.

Some of us came in search of adventure
Some were in chains while others born free
But everyone's equal to cold and to vacuum
The moon is a harsh mistress, no favorites has she.

And those who survived, they learned to be thankful
And take a pride in playing their part
For what was a rabble gave birth to a nation
With a dream of Free Luna in everyone's heart

Many have cried and many have suffered
And many have died so we might be free
And we will remember the names of our martyrs
The moon is a harsh mistress and always will be

So cast off the chains and the fetters of Terra
We've rocks here a'plenty, as they will soon see
So let the sky fall, we'll fight if we're made to,
For freedom, for Luna, for sweet Liberty

See the Earth high above the mountains,
Baby don't cry, no tears should there be.
Sleep little child, no need to be fearful
The moon is a harsh mistress, I'll not disagree,
The moon is a harsh mistress,
But she's home now for me.
