Lullaby For Another World

Words & Music: Chris Malme

Rest awhile, my sleepy-head
Time for you to go to bed
Time for you to dream of things
That perhaps the future brings

See the buildings oh so high, raising cities to the sky
The wonder of electric light will keep the city safe at night.
While in the country big machines cultivate most everything
There's no hunger or starvation, food enough for every nation

Rest awhile my little one
Time to sleep now day is done
In your dreamworld you will see
Images of what might be

See the wonder science brings - no more pain or suffering
Machines to help us think and plan the path and destiny of man
Where there's no need for folk to fight. No more wars to prove who's right
Everyone can live in peace, no more suffering or disease

Oh how I wish that it could be
          The rule of man, such fantasy;
And though you're young you must, it seems,
Now say goodbye to childish dreams

So sleep in peace my elven lord. Tomorrow we must wear our swords
And dreams will end while we are hurled once more into this faerie world

Rest, my sleepy-head
Time for you to go to bed
Time for you to dream of things
That perhaps tomorrow brings
